Our Adventure

Colby has had a free roundtrip ticket for Southwest Airlines for some time now and I had planned to use it before the baby came to go visit my old roommate who had moved to Denver, but time got away from me and before we knew it, Ronin was here. I suddenly felt the clanking of the ball and chain that I had felt when we first brought Reid home. I remember that adjustment being incredibly difficult for me. In my mind, just going for a walk around the block with him (much less a plane ride out of state) seemed to take so much effort, planning and stress.

This time around though, I feel so much more confident and relaxed because of the experience under my belt with Reid and I feel so much more appreciative after my loss of Olive that I just want to soak up every moment I have with Ronin while he's so young. So, when Colby suggested that I take the trip anyway (alone with Ronin), I jumped on it! I felt so adventurous and brave! It really paid off because I had such a blast visiting Bianca and felt like I had regained a bit of my independence. Ronin did so well the entire trip (he's so good to me!) and all went off without a hitch. Well, except for nearly tripping over one of the pilots' suitcases while holding Ronin when going through security. (Luckily, the pilot and the lady behind me caught me!)

During our four-day visit last weekend, Bianca drove us up to Estes Park. The drive alone was breath-taking. I should have gotten a picture of us on the side of the road with the mountains behind us, but these cookies at "Grandma's Cookie Shop" must have distracted me. Yes, those are cookie sandwhiches. They were unbelievable! I think Bianca's going to mail me some more.

A beautiful day in Estes Park:

This next shot looks like something you'd see in a NatGeo magazine or something, but these wild moose were just across the street from the shop while we were pigging out.

Bianca also introduced us to Beau Jo's Pizza. If you're ever in Denver, well... I'll let the picture do the talking...
During a stop at the mall for some sexy new jeans to finish off my hot, new Euro-mom look, we came across a dreadfully irresistible formal dress shop. We had "the twins" from the highschool youth group Bianca leads worship for with us. I suggested we each pick a cupcake dress for whomever's name comes after ours alphabetically, we all try them on and reveal our new look to each other all at the same time. If I look like the happiest girl in the whole world, it's because I was. I think the twins wanted me to go back home to California though.

Thank you for the amazing vacation, B! Love you and can't wait to see you again in the Summer!
