The Bandits Take to Thunderhill Again in Pursuit of LeMons Glory!

Did I say "glory"?

I'm not so regretful that I missed this one, considering the guys were dressed in drag during the entire weekend!  Their theme this time around was Tiger Woods, the guys being his mistresses.  I'll just let the photos do the talking...

This guy's penalty was to walk around the paddock in a speedo.  The Bandits made it worse by making him pose with one of their "girls".  Frightening.

The Bandits took home the Organizer's Choice award again!  That's twice in a row - a first in LeMons history!

The check was given in the form of a toilet seat, creating quite the adventure in finding a bank that would honor it.  They ended up having to go the the issuer's main branch in SF.  As you'd expect, they dressed for the occasion.

For more photos & video footage, including a clip of the mistresses beating the car with golf clubs as it came in for a black flag, visit The Cannonball Bandits' fan page on Facebook.

Mother's Day Monstrosity

So, our Mother's Day craft turned into more of a science experiment...

The kids were making handprints with finger paint onto the grandmas' wrapped presents.  The handprints were supposed to be the "stems" for the flowers-turned-charcoal.  Are you following?  The "flowers" were supposed to be made up of damp, twisted, rolled-up pieces of TP, dipped in poster paint, which, according to our craft book, were to be microwaved until dry.  What the book didn't mention was not to use a styrofoam plate.  Ok, I guess that falls under common sense, which I sometimes lack.  All I know is a couple minutes into cooking, a little orange flame in the micro caught my eye.  I rushed over and released a blanket of smoke out onto the ceiling.  It was so thick, I thought for sure there would be a layer of soot left to remind me of my stupidity.  There wasn't though.  Just a horrible stench left in the micro that every remedy in the book can't get rid of.

Anyway, back to the little, orange flame... I sort of tossed the flaming remains into the sink, meanwhile Reid sat in astonishment at the counter.  "What did you do, Mom??" he asked.  "I'm so sorry, Sweetie!  I caught our Mother's Day craft of fire!" I responded.  After watching me wash much of our morning's work down the drain, he said, "Next time, don't light it on fire, ok, Mom?"

Meet Bianca

Bianca arrives in a floatie & goggles with cups of blue jello with coolwhip (to resemble waves) in hand for our date to see the "Oceans" movie.

At the end of the movie I asked Reid what his favorite part was.  I thought for sure he would answer with one of the many sentimental moments, like when the mama seal coaxed her baby seal into the water for the very first time and then tucked it under herself as she swam through the ocean.  Nope.  Instead he answered wide-eyed, "I like when the big fish ate the little fish!"

Smooth sailing, thanks to the screen mounted just inches above his face showing the Cars movie.

A Passionate Housewife

I've hardly been able to shut-up about the book, 'Passionate Housewives Desperate for God' since I read it recently.  The book, written by a former Christian femenist, debunks the modern 'desperate housewife' myth and provides fresh vision for the homemaker.  I recommend it to any passionate wife/mom who can handle being challenged.

One of the many things I've taken from it is the idea that we homemakers create our family's own little universe within our home, which has inspired me to channel my creative side and tackle some unfinished projects.

I ordered 16x20 canvas prints of Olive & Ronin to match one I had done a long while back of Reid that's just been getting dusty under my bed.  I couldn't find the same frame I had put Reid's in, so I improvised with mismatched frames and had Colby mount Ronin's on top of the frame to give it more depth.  Then I made a collage with the prints and a few folk-asrtsy prints on bamboo that I found at Walmart for just eight bucks each.   Now, every time I walk into my room, this is what I see:

By the way, Canvas People has a sweet deal if you use this link.  You can score a free 8x10 or get other sizes at deep discounts.

Easter Celebrations

Easter Celebration Part 1

Each year go to Celebration Church's outreach event for their egg hunt and puppet show that kids from the church perform for the younger ones.  It includes songs and a story about Jesus' resurrection and all of our need for forgiveness.  Reid enjoyed the show, despite his fingers in his ears throughout the entire thing.  He even snuck a picture with one of the characters afterwards.

Easter Celebration Part 2:

My mom hosts a celebration each year for Easter as well, which of course includes a hunt with money & candy-filled eggs and toys.  The boys were majorly spoiled.
