Reid's First Encounter

After being prepped on the way to the hospital by Papa Gary to meet his new little brother, Reid took his first look at Ronin. He looked back and forth from the tiny naked baby on the warming table to my belly, as I tried desperately to suck it in so he could see the difference. He then looks to me and says, "Heartbeat!" I was amazed!!! He had made the connection to the couple doctor appointments he accompanied us on where he got to hear Baby's heartbeat to the little wriggling creature in front of him! We brought him over to Ronin and asked him if he wanted to touch the baby's foot. Reid hesitated, but with our coaxing he reached out to poke Ronin's foot however at the last moment rerouted and poked his balls instead! "Nooo!" we all yelled, "His foot, Sweetie." He quietly reached out once more, but again redirected his index finger at the last moment. That's enough, we agreed and laughed about Reid's "establishment of dominance".


Besides that, Reid has been so sweet with his new little brother. He's always kissing on him and holding his hand. The sweetest though was when I watched him through our video monitor as he approached Ronin in his bassinet. I was curious to see how he would be when he believed no one was watching. Reid held onto the side of the bassinet and stretched his head over the side to see the sleeping baby. "Hey, Ronin." he said quietly. "Watcha doin'?" I tensed up as I saw his giant toddler hand reach in just to pat him on his belly. Reid then walked away and returned, dragging over his rocking horse with him. I hear him get on it and start rocking while continuing to talk to his sleeping baby brother. "Look at this, Ronin! Look at this!" My heart melted.
